How does Azzalure work?
This solution known as botulinum toxin type A, which is the same kind of substance used in the well-known and popular Botox. The medication will temporarily relax the facial muscles, and will then prevent them from wrinkling or creasing the skin. It has been used in medical and cosmetic treatments all over the world for over 20 years, and has a high safety profile with doctors worldwide saying it is highly safe. Azzalure is typically used on fine to moderate wrinkles, particularly the top parts of face smoothening out the wrinkles and lines that appear due to frequent smiles and/or frowns.
Azzalure should only be applied on patients by qualified medical professionals. The amount and method used will depend on the location and severity of the area to be corrected. The powder is reconstituted with sodium chloride 9mg/ml solution, and then injected into the site. For glabellar lines, 50 Speywood units is usually used, divided into 5 injection sites. 10 Speywood units each are injected intramuscularly at right angles into the skin, with 2 injections into each corrugator muscle and one into the procerus muscle.
How long does it last?
The actual duration of effects is highly dependent upon the lifestyle and physiology of the patient. However, it has been noted that it can last for 3 to 5 months after injection.
